The issue of accuracy on the Internet is directly relatted to the nature of Web 2.0. With the wealth of information avaliable and the types of people authoring said information (anybody who has access to the Internet) the accuracy of the content being authored is hard to control. The Wikiscanner attempts sto scan Wikipedia artiles and find IP addresses of certain institutions such as Australian government who have edited paticular Wikiepdia articles in order to influence the thoughts of society. Wikipedia has also fought to be a reliable source by including a list of references at the bottom of each WIkiepdia articles. These references are to other sources which provide the same or similar information about the topic. This makes the information reliable as it displays that the content of the article has been cross checked over a variety of sources to ensure that the informaiton displayed matches with a variety of other reliable sources.
Some paticular pages are helped to be reliable through being locked. If a wikiepdia article is locked, this means that only people with permission are able to edit the content of the page.
